Soccer Shuts Out St. Andrews in AAC Play
The Brenau soccer team used a strong defensive effort to defeat St. Andrews (NC) College 2-0 in an Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup on Wednesday in Gainesville.
The Golden Tigers defense held the visiting Knights to a single shot in the first half and only six total shots in the match. Keepers Anela Melton and Ashley Spring combined to stop four of the six shots in the victory.
In the 22nd minute, Taylor Bennett scored to give Brenau an early 1-0 lead, and then Jade Echols found Mackenzie Callas for the insurance goal in the 80th minute to secure the squad's first conference win of the season.
Brenau (1-8-2 overall, 1-4-1 AAC) next travels to Bryan College (6-4 overall, 4-2 AAC) on Saturday at 4:30 for an Appalachian Athletic Conference match.
