Soccer Picked Eighth in AAC Preseason Poll
ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Brenau soccer team was picked eighth for the 2019 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) women's soccer championship, according to the AAC Coaches' Preseason Poll released Wednesday.
The squad received 85 votes in the preseason poll which was only a single vote behind seventh place Columbia International University.
The Golden Tigers return thirteen letter winners from last year's team, including seniors Elli Johnson, Jacquelyn Christoph, Tatiana Rojas and Cheyenne Slate.
Tennessee Wesleyan University was tabbed as the favorites, while Truett McConnell (156 points), Reinhardt (148 points), Milligan (133) and Point (118) round out the top five vote getters.
"We have the opportunity to be competitive in every AAC match we play this year and aspire to achieve the goals we've set for this year's team," said head coach Mike Lochstampfor. "Pre-season polls make for interesting conversation but we anticipate the team's hard work paying off at the end of the season."
Brenau opens the regular season against SCAD Savannah at noon on August 25th at Allen Creek Soccer Complex in Gainesville, Ga.
