Soccer Falls to SCAD-Savannah in Season Opener
Gainesville, Georgia- In the 2019 season opener, the Brenau soccer team fell to SCAD-Savannah 3-0 this past Sunday in non-conference play.
The visiting Bees struck first as Madison Lambert scored just after the nine minute mark to give her squad an early 1-0 advantage.
In the 32nd minute, SCAD-Savannah added to the lead as Julia Rauch found Mikaela Hayboer for the second goal of the half.
After the intermission, the Golden Tigers defense held the visitors to only six shots until Natalia Zapata added a late insurance goal to ensure the Bees' victory.
SCAD-Savannah held a slight 15-11 shooting advantage over Brenau in the match. The Bees' keeper Elisa Dogor saved three shots on goal, while the Golden Tigers' Daphne Ramirez saved four shots on the afternoon.
Brenau (0-1 overall) next hosts Johnson and Wales (Fla.) University (1-0) on Thursday at 5:00 at Allen Creek Soccer Complex in Gainesville.
