Soccer Falls to Reinhardt 2-0 in Conference Play

Waleska, Georgia- The Brenau soccer team fell to Reinhardt (Ga.) University 2-0 in an Appalachian Athletic Conference match on Saturday.

After a scoreless first half, the host Eagles (2-1 overall, 2-1 AAC) scored in the 50th minute as Channing Pantano found the back of the net to make the score 1-0. At the 63:07 mark, Reinhardt added to its lead as Marta Vicente-Arche beat Golden Tigers' keeper Daphne Ramirez to extend the lead to 2-0.

Brenau could not break through the Reinhardt defense as the Eagles controlled the pace and outshot the Golden Tigers 13-6 in the match.

Senior Jade Echols led the Golden Tigers with three shots on goal, while junior Abbie George and sophomore Cindy Bonilla each added a shot on goal. Reinhardt keeper Caroline Johnson saved four shots, while Ramirez saved five shots in the loss.

Brenau (3-1-1 overall, 3-1-1 AAC) next hosts Milligan (Tenn.) University (4-0 overall, 4-0 AAC) on Wednesday at 5:30 pm in Gainesville.
