Union Outlasts Golden Tigers 2-1 in Conference Play

Gainesville, Georgia- The Union (Ky.) College soccer team slipped past Brenau 2-1 in Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Tuesday.

The Golden Tigers started strong as sophomore Cindy Bonilla beat Bulldog keeper Hailee Hinthorne to score her third goal of the season and give the home team an early 1-0 lead.

Brenau held the lead until the 31:46 mark when Union's Vanessa Bernardes notched the first of her two goals to even the score.

At the 55:31 mark, Bernardes again beat Brenau keeper Jordan Smith for the go-ahead goal. The Union defense held despite a 19-7 shot advantage for Brenau, which allowed the visitors to escape with the win.

The loss dropped the Golden Tigers to 3-3-1 overall, who currently sit in fourth place in the AAC standings.

Brenau next travels to face Kentucky Christian University (0-7 overall, 0-7 AAC) on Saturday at 5:30 pm in Grayson, Kentucky.
