Soccer Blanks Columbia 2-0 in AAC Conference Play
Columbia, South Carolina- The Brenau soccer team shutout Columbia (S.C.) College 2-0 in a critical Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday.
With the AAC tournament only accepting four teams due to COVID-19 restrictions, the win pushed the squad ahead of Montreat (N.C.) College in the conference standings.
In the first half of the match against Columbia, sophomore Kory Rodas beat the Koala's keeper Jennifer Angeles for a 1-0 lead.
At the 82:31 mark, the Golden Tigers added an insurance goal as Jade Echols scored her team-high sixth goal of the season to secure the win.
Freshman keeper Jordan Smith earned her second shutout of the season as the defense held the Koalas in check throughout the match.
Brenau (5-4-1 overall, 5-4-1 AAC) next travels to Truett McConnell (Ga.) University (8-0-1 overall, 8-0-1 AAC) on Wednesday for a 7:00 pm conference matchup.
