Soccer Receives 2020-21 AAC Postseason Accolades
Kingsport, Tennessee- The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) honored members of the Brenau soccer team for their athletic and academic achievements, the conference announced on Friday.
The AAC Coaches named sophomore Cindy Bonilla as a 2020-21 AAC Women's All-Conference Second Team member for her performance during the season. The Gainesville, Ga. native tallied six goals on the season, which tied for the team lead.
Bonilla also received 2020-21 AAC All-Academic team member honors for her academic achievement. Joining her on the All-Academic team are teammates Gizelle Evan, Rebecca McDaniel, Stacy Mendoza, Daphne Ramirez, Itzel Rivera and Kory Rodas.
Additionally, junior Karla Torres was selected as the Brenau Champions of Character team member. Honorees are chosen as best representing the NAIA's Five Core Values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
"This is great recognition and well deserved for each of these ladies in their respective award categories." said head coach Mike Lochstampfor. " I am very proud of all of them and value their hard work and dedication to their sport and their commitment to representing Brenau University in such a positive manner!"
All-Academic team members must have a minimum of a 3.25 grade point average and have achieved at least sophomore academic status.
