Soccer Falls in Overtime to Montreat 1-0

Gainesville, Georgia- An overtime goal propelled Montreat (NC) College past the Brenau Golden Tigers 1-0 in an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) soccer match on Saturday.

After both teams battled to a stalemate for the first 90 minutes, Montreat's Jackie Montes beat Brenau keeper Daphne Ramirez in the 97th minute to score the game winner.

The Cavaliers (12-3 overall, 11-3 AAC) outshot the Golden Tigers 23-14 in the match, however both teams had two shots in the overtime period. Montreat's Payton Landy saved six shots in the win, while Ramirez posted nine saves in the loss.

With the conclusion of the regular season, the squad enters the 2021 AAC Women's Soccer Tournament as the tenth seed. The Golden Tigers (5-8-1 overall, 5-8-1 AAC) will take on #7 Columbia (SC) College (10-7 overall, 8-6 AAC) in Columbia, SC on November 2nd.
