Soccer Rolls Past Point 4-0 in Season Opener
West Point, Georgia- Three second-half goals helped propel the Brenau soccer team to a dominant 4-0 victory over Point (Ga.) University in the season opener on Saturday.
In the 18th minute of the first half, senior forward Camila Penagos took a Haley Wilton pass and found the back of the net for the Golden Tigers’ first goal of the season.
The scoring game remained 1-0 through the remainder of the first half until the 62nd minute as the attack scored three unassisted goals to roll to victory.
Freshmen Abigail Menjivar and Sarah Clark each scored their first goals as Golden Tigers, while Penagos added her second goal of the evening.
Brenau outshot Point 24-5 in the match and keeper Jordan Smith and the Brenau defense held the host Skyhawks to only one shot on goal in a strong overall team performance.
Brenau (1-0 overall) next hosts non-conference opponent Faulkner (Al.) University (0-0-1) on Thursday at Allen Creek Soccer Complex at 5:30 p.m.
