Soccer Falls to Montreat 4-1 in AAC Play
Columbia, South Carolina- The Brenau soccer team fell to Montreat (NC) College 4-1 in an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) matchup on Saturday.
The visiting Cavaliers scored two first-half goals to put the host Golden Tigers in an early 2-0 hole. Montreat continued to hold that advantage until intermission. Brenau outshot the visitors 9-8 in the first half but were unable to find the back of the net.
In the second half, freshman Sarah Clark continued her strong play with a goal in the 46th minute to cut the deficit to a manageable 2-1. However, Montreat answered with two second-half goals to clinch the victory.
Keeper Jordan Smith saved four shots on goal to take the loss. Montreat held an 18-10 shots-on-goal advantage in the match.
Brenau (4-4 overall, 2-4 AAC) continues Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Wednesday when the squad travels to take on Tennessee Wesleyan (7-1-1 overall 6-1 AAC) for a 430 pm matchup.
