Soccer Rolls Past Milligan 3-1

Gainesville, Georgia- Two goals from freshman Sarah Clark helped the Brenau soccer team roll past Milligan (Tenn.) 3-1 in an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) matchup on Wednesday

Clark started the scoring in the 22nd minute as senior Camilla Penagos found the freshman for an early 1-0 lead. 

In the second half, Penagos notched her sixth goal of the season as she took a Daroly Ramos pass and beat Buff’s goalkeeper Akyla Walcott to extend the lead to 2-0. The scoring continued in the 83rd minute when junior Shayne King found Clark again for the insurance goal to take a commanding 3-0 lead.

Milligan’s Lucy Knowles scored in the 84th minute to avoid the shutout.

Brenau goalkeeper Jordan Smith saved eight goals to earn the victory. Clark, who leads the Golden Tigers in goals, sits tied for fifth in the conference in goals (9), while Penagos is tied for twelfth (6). 

Brenau (7-6 overall, 5-6 AAC) continues Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Saturday when the squad travels to face Johnson (Tenn.) (5-6-2 overall 4-6-1 AAC) for a 2:00 pm matchup.
