Kimura and Morrison Swim at State Meet

Atlanta, GA- The 2009 Georgia State Open Championships were held last weekend at Georgia Tech and two of Brenau's swimmers were among the competitors. This meet is held annually for swimmers who compete on club teams throughout the state and qualify by meeting race standards, and Lucianne Kimura and Mairi Morrison represented the Tigers in the event. Morrison started things off with a PB in the 200 Free (2:04.96) and came back the next day with a PB 25.78 in the 50 Free, then did another PB 54.88 in the 100 Free. Kimura started off with a PB 1:02.33 in the 100 Butterfly, then clocked a 26.79 in the 50 Free and went 2:23.01 in the 200 Fly.With their performances in this meet, both swimmers improved their seeding for the NAIA Nationals as Morrison is now ranked in the top 20 in the 50 and 200 Free and 4th in the 100 Free. Kimura is ranked #13 in the 200 Fly, 14th in the 100 and 200 Back and top 20 in the 100 Fly. Coach Gabby Matthews was very pleased with both swimmers and noted that the competition they faced here was the strongest they will see all season. Both will be seeded very highly in the upcoming Appalachian Swimming Conference meet.
