Portwood Commits to Brenau Swimming

Gainesville, Ga- The Brenau swim team, fresh off their outstanding performance at the NAIA Nationals, has announced the addition of their first recruit for next season. Lisa Portwood, a senior at Walton High School and a member of Swim Atlanta under the tutelage of Rick Vogler, has signed a letter of intent to continue her studies and swim career for the Golden Tigers. She started swimming year round when she was nine years old and has gone to GA short and long course for six years. Portwood has also made the Georgia State high school team all four years.
Her Swim Atlanta team will be traveling to the Bahamas for training in the near future and she has been coaching in the Special Olympics program for the past three years. "Lisa is an exceptional swimmer and student and she will fit into our program like a glove," said Coach Matthews at her signing. "She is used to hard work with Swim Atlanta and we are looking forward to her contributions to our team next year." Portwood has already made the NAIA Nationals A cuts in most of her events and already has a couple of school record times; in the 1000 Free, 1650 Free, 200 IM and 400 IM. Lisa tentatively plans to major in Finance at Brenau.
