Tiger Swimmers Open Season at Mars Hill

Mars Hill, NC - The Brenau swim team traveled to North Carolina to open their season on Saturday and faced off in a double dual with Mars Hill, NC and King, TN. Brenau swimmers Lisa Portwood (Marietta), Julia Ferreria (Indaiatuba, SP-Brazil), Melissa Bofto (Warner Robins) & Ana Galesic (Zagreb, Croatia) kicked off the meet with a win in the 200 Medley relay (2:00.48) edging out both Mars Hill & King College.

Continuing to build on that result, Portwood placed 2^nd in the 200 free (2:05.44), 2^nd in the 500 free(5:36.75) and 2^nd in the 200 IM (2:23.43). Returning sophomore, Galesic, came in 3^rd in the 100 back (1:06.99) and 5^th in the 50 free (27.19). Ferreira got 2^nd in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.54) and Melissa Bofto placed 3^rd in the 200 fly (2:38.46) and 3^rd in the 200 breaststroke (2:45.64).

"I am proud of our girls efforts during our first meet of the season, now we look to continue building our endurance and intensity as we plan for our next meets this semester." said Coach Blaire Bachman. The next competition for the Tigers will be another double dual with Pfeiffer, NC and Wingate, NC on October 29.
