Brenau Swimmers Compete With Pfeiffer, Wingate

Misenheimer, NC - The Brenau swim team began a busy weekend last night when they took on NCAA II Pfeiffer and Wingate in a double dual hosted by Pfeiffer. The Tigers came out on the short end with both schools, losing 80-13 to Wingate and 52-34 to Pfeiffer.
Sophomore Ana Galesic (Zagreb,, Croatia) picked up a second place finish in the 100 Free with a time of (57.98), which is good enough for the NAIA National B Qualifying time, and placed 4th in the 50 Free (26.94). Freshman Lisa Portwood (Marietta) was 2nd in the 200 Free (2:03.24), which meets the National Qualifying time, and 3rd in the 200 Back in (2:19.81), which meets the National B Qualifying time. Junior Julia Ferreira (Indaiatuba, Brazil) was 3rd in the 200 IM and 4th in the 200 Breast (2:37.81), also National Qualifying time. Senior Melissa Bofto was 4th in the 200 IM (2:28) and 5th in the 200 Breast (2:46).
"Our team really stepped up at this meet and faced off against two Division II schools, I'm proud of their progress and excited to continue to see them improve as the season goes on," said Head Coach Blaire Bachman.
The Tigers will compete today in the Catawba Boo Bash Relays to complete their whirlwind tour of North Carolina.
