Brenau Swimmers Finish Second at Darton Invitational

Albany - The Brenau swim team tuned up for the ASC (Appalachian Swimming Conference) championships with a second place finish at the Darton Invitational today. The Tigers competed against the host school, Darton as well as LaGrange and South Georgia. Sophomore Hannah Boudreaux (Lafayette, La) had another strong showing with wins in the 400 IM (4:46) and the 200 breast (2:33). She finished 2nd in the 100 fly (1:01).
Freshman Lisa Portwood (Marietta) also won two events, the 200 free (2:01) and 500 free (5:31). A personal best was achieved by Brianne Russ (Atlanta) in the 100 free (59.7). Season bests were accomplished by Monica Souther (Tunnel Hill) and Laura Hirst (Huddersfield, England) in the 50 free and Melissa Bofto (Warner Robins) in 100 fly (1:05). Boudreaux, Bofto and Julia Fereirra (Sao Paulo, Brazil) took over the 400 IM, finishing 1-2-3.
The 400 free relay team of Boudreaux, Portwood, Ferreira and Ana Galesic (Zagreb, Croatia) closed out the meet with a victory to complete an outstanding day for the Golden Tigers. Brenau will now turn its attention to the Conference Championships in two weeks.
