Swim Team Sets Personal Bests at Nationals
St. Louis, MO - The Brenau University Swim Team ended their season at the NAIA National Championship in great fashion. With a team of 6 at the national meet, the Golden Tigers were able to achieve 6 personal bests, 4 relay bests, and set 3 school records! Julia Ferreira, a junior from Indaiatuba, Brazil, broke her personal best in the 200 breaststroke. With a time of 2:33, Ferreira managed to finish the meet within the top 20. Melissa Bofto, a senior from Warner Robins, Georgia, also beat her personal best in the 200 breaststroke in 2:37.
Moreover, Hannah Boudreaux, a sophomore from Lafayette, Louisiana, continued to dominate in the water while also bettering her time in the 200 fly, in 2:07. Boudreaux finished 14th in the 400 free relay, and 5th overall. As for Monica Souther, a freshman from Tunnel Hill, Georgia, she was named the recipient of the Champions of Character Award.
Head Coach, Blaire Bachman stated, "I couldn't think of a better way to end our trip at nationals. I am so proud of this team! Each swimmer contributed to this program, their hard work, dedication and discipline has truly paid off."
