Golden Tigers Victorious at LaGrange
January 14, 2012
The Golden Tigers went on the road for their first meet of the new year and came home victorious beating host LaGrange College, Warren Wilson College (NC), and South Georgia College in the process. Brenau scored 102 points to lead the field followed by South Georgia (44), Warren Wilson (42), and LaGrange 16.
More remarkable was the fact that the team placed 1st in eight of eleven events. The one PR for the Golden Tigers came from Hannah Boudreaux in the 1000 Freestyle (10:45). However, that time also resulted in a new Brenau University record!
Several of Boudreaux's teammates followed up with their own successful swims- Michelle Billeaud recorded a 50 free time of 24.76 as well as a time of 1:00.23 in the 100 butterfly. Not to be outdone, Julia Ferreira recorded a 200 IM time of 2:25.42 and a 1:15.15 in the100 breaststroke.
Coach Blaire Bachman had this to say following the meet, "this meet allowed us to swim some 'off events' and really enjoy the competition. We have a lot of work to do, building endurance and getting to the top of our game by conference and nationals in less than 2 months. Each of our girls has set personal goals, now is the time to train the hardest to achieve them."
The Golden Tigers are once again on the road this weekend as they head to Rome, GA for the Berry College Viking Invitational on Saturday, January 21st.
