Brenau Swimmers Compete at Viking Invitational
Despite competing in only one day of a two day competition, Brenau (383 points) came in a solid second place finish behind host Berry College (504 points) in the Viking Invitational. Rounding out the four team meet were South Georgia College (328 points) and LaGrange College (156 points); finishing the meet in 3rd and 4th places respectively.
Brenau actually finished the meet having placed first in 9 of 13 events. The Golden Tigers capped off their successful weekend by sweeping the 400 Freestyle relay. In the process of scoring enough points to capture second place, Brenau once again achieved some impressive individual performances from several swimmers. Top finishes include Hannah Boudreaux's times of 2:11:29, 4:43:18 and 1:01:42 in the 200 Fly, 400 IM and the 100 Fly respectively. Michelle Billeaud recorded a 1:02:17 in the 100 Back and a 2:15:50 in the 200 Back. Lisa Portwood's time in the 1000 Freestyle was solid enough to give her a PR in the event.
Following the conclusion of the one day meet, Head Coach Blaire Bachman was pleased with the results and had this to say," Berry hosted a great meet and we were glad to compete in a venue close to home. Even though we only competed one of two days, we came close to winning the meet. Our team is being challenged right now both physically and mentally, encouraged to perform at a high level every time we race. In the coming weeks it's all about training and becoming stronger, quicker, and tough as we head into two large championship meets.
The Golden Tigers will head up I-85 to South Carolina for their next meet as they compete in the Limestone/Converse Invitational Meet in Gaffney, SC on January 26th.
