Swimming Falls To Division I UNC-Asheville
Brenau swimming put up a good fight against NCAA Division I University of North Carolina-Asheville on Friday evening, but ultimately fell by a score of 119-81.
In a highly competitive meet, Brenau challenged the Bulldogs in all events. In the opening 200 MR, UNC-Asheville slipped by Brenau, touching the wall in just a few hundredths of a second faster than the Golden Tigers.
Brenau did capture three individual wins on the evening, with Talia Sola (Madrid, Spain) pacing the 100 Back (57.35), Michelle Billeaud (Lafayette, La.) in the 100 Fly (59.65) and MK Jabbia (Slidell, La.) in the 200 IM (2:12.95).
"We were given the opportunity to race a fast team at a turning point in our season, right before championships. This type of 'down to the wire' competition awaits us in a few weeks and it was a good run through, allowing us to look at our race strategies and see what needs improvement", said head coach Blaire Bachman. "I predict we will take inspiration from this meet and turn it into a positive moving forward!".
The Golden Tigers next travel to the Appalachian Swimming Conference Championships in Christianburg, Virginia on February 13th.
