Swimming Signs Australian Standout
Head coach Blaire Bachman announces the signing of Ella Kleinschmidt to the 2014-2015 Brenau University Swim Team.
Kleinschmidt, a native of Queensland, Australia, is the daughter of Alinda and Jon Kleinschmidt and looks to pursue a degree in Elementary/Early Childhood Education.
As a standout athlete, Kleinschmidt won the bronze medal in the Australian Schools National Championships in the 400 freestyle in 2013. She also won a bronze medal in the Queensland Short Course 400 freestyle and a gold medal in the 10K open water event at the Queensland State Age Open Water Championships.
In 2012, she received the Pierre de Coubertin Award for academic excellence and sporting prowess from the Australian Olympic Committee.
Kleinschmidt noted that when she was looking for a university, she "wanted to come to a place where I could succeed in both the pool and academics, and where I could be a part of a team environment that is constantly motivating and encouraging". After committing to Brenau, the standout swimmer said that, "I know I have found the right place to continue my swimming whilst completing my education".
Head Coach Blaire Bachman added that, "Ella is a fantastic addition to the Brenau Swim Team, and I expect she will immediately impact our program and the NAIA scene. She has a strong competitive swimming background, with success in multiple events, ranging sprint to distance free and IM events. Ella has a wonderful personality and is a natural leader. I couldn't be happier to welcome her to Brenau as a Golden Tiger!"
Kleinschmidt is the third commitment for the 2014-2015 team.
