Swimming Dominates Women's Invitational
Brenau University Swimming took home first place in dominating fashion at the All-Women's Invitational hosted by Converse (S.C) College this weekend.
The Golden Tigers won all 17 events and scored 678 points to easily take first place. Host Converse (S.C.) College (422) finished in second place, followed by Sweet Briar (Va.) College (343), Columbia (S.C.) College (240), Hollins (Va.) University (157) and Guilford (N.C.) College (55).
Friday evening's session opened with a 1-2 finish in the 200 Medley Relay with Brenau touching in 1:51.55 and 1:58.77. Courtney Hayward and Ella Kleinschmidt followed with top times in the 1650 Free as the duo finished in 17:58.30 and 18:32.39 respectively with both national qualifying times.
Talia Sola hit the wall first in the 200 Backstroke with 2:11.96, while Madison Kosater and Amanda Smith going 2:17.50 and 2:22.06 respectively. Brenau swept the 200 Breaststroke as Mary Katherine Jabbia (2:29.89), Sarah Frey (2:36.54) and Sophie Nasstrom (2:42.03) finished 1-2-3.
Michelle Billeaud and M. K.Jabbia topped the results in the 50 Freestyle in 24.86 and 26.02 respectively, while Kleinschmidt took control of the 200 Freestyle in 2:00.32.
In the final events of Friday, Billeaud won the 200 Butterfly (2:17.75), while Hayward (4:44.60) and Frey (4:55.44) finished first and second in the 400 IM.
The Golden Tigers wrapped Friday evening winning the 400 Free Relay in 4:46.47.

"Our team did a great job of racing their best in every event, through both sessions this weekend," said head coach Blaire Bachman. "It was an opportunity for us to see how effective training has been and learn ways to improve ourselves for future competitions. The team and I are very excited to bring this first place win to Brenau University."
Brenau next swims on October 24th at the University of North Carolina-Asheville.
