Bachman Pursues New Coaching Opportunity
Head swim coach Blaire Bachman has resigned after five seasons at the helm of the Brenau University swim team.
After arriving in 2010 as the youngest head swim coach in the nation according to www.collegeswimming.com, the Gainesville, Ga. native helped guide her team's return to national prominence. She earned Appalachian Swimming Conference (ASC) Coach of the Year honors in four consecutive seasons from 2012-2015 and led her team to five straight National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) championship appearances.
In 2014, Bachman was named NAIA Co-Coach of the Year for her team's fourth place finish at the NAIA National Championships, and in 2015, her squad earned a third place - the highest in program history.
During her tenure, Bachman has coached 16 individual All-Americans and six All-American relay teams.
"Coach Bachman has done a phenomenal job of elevating our swim program and we are now successfully competing against the best small college programs in the nation," said Athletic Director Mike Lochstampfor. "We wish her well in her new pursuits and will identify a coach that is capable of building on the success of the program!"
Bachman will be transitioning into an assistant coach position at NCAA Division I Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire.
