Swimming Picked First in ASC Preseason Poll
The Brenau swim team opens the season with high expectations as the team was voted first in the 2016-17 Appalachian Swimming Conference Preseason Poll, released on Wednesday by the conference office.
After winning the conference championship in 2015-16, the Golden Tigers garnered 10 of 11 first-place votes in the preseason voting, besting Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University and Emmanuel (Ga.) College in the 13 team poll.
Mars Hill (NC) College, Malone (OH) University, West Virginia Wesleyan and King (Tenn.) College rounded out the top seven.
Brenau returns ten letter winners from the #3 ranked NAIA team, including All-Americans Courtney Hayward and Lindsay Dowling and standouts Sarah Frey, Alisha Hodgetts, Ella Kleinschmidt and Madison Kosater. Other experienced swimmers include Alyssa Hardin, Devin Horan, Emma Jaczko and Margaret Norton.
Three freshmen add to the squad as newcomers Chloe Ireland, Anna Rose and Yanne Toussaint bring talent and depth to the team.
Brenau opens the season on October 7th at the Converse College Invitational in Spartanburg, SC.
