Swimming Falls To UNC-Asheville
The Brenau swim team raced UNC-Asheville in a non-conference meet in preparation for the remainder of the season on Saturday in Asheville.
The fifth-ranked Golden Tigers won two events over the NCAA Division I Bulldogs, but were outpaced 135-61 in the meet.
The 200 yard freestyle team of Chloe Ireland, Lindsay Dowling, Courtney Hayward and Anna Rose captured first place with a time of 1:45.12, while the B team of Devin Horan, Margaret Norton, Maria Soledad Morrell Quiroga and Sarah Frey placed second in 1:53.35.
Hayward also won the 1000 yard freestyle in 10:38.26, which was 12 seconds faster than runner-up Catherine Allen from UNC-Asheville.
The Golden Tigers also had a pair of second place finishers as Ireland captured second place in the 500 yard freestyle (5:49.20) and Frey was the runner up in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:38.10).
Brenau next swims at the BU Invitational on November 18-19 at Francis Meadows Aquatic Center in Gainesville, Ga.
