Swimmers Garner All-American Honors
Four Brenau swimmers were named as 2017 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletic (NAIA) Women's Swimming & Diving All-Americans.
Honors were awarded to the top-three finishers in each event and the swimmers of the top-three finishing relay teams at the 37th Annual NAIA Women's Swimming & Diving National Championships at the Columbus Aquatic Center in Columbus, Ga.
Individually, Courtney Hayward was honored as a 2017 National Champion and All-American for her win in the 1650 freestyle. The victory marked the second national title in the event for the Townsville, Australia senior, who closes out a storied career as a Golden Tiger.
Hayward joined teammates Lindsay Dowling, Alisha Hodgetts and Yanne Toussaint to earn All-American status by virtue of their third place finish in the 400 medley relay. The team raced to a 3:54.12 time to edge out Biola (Calif.) University by just over a second.
As a team, the Golden Tigers squad placed fourth overall at the national championships, scoring a total of 264 points and 12 top-ten finishes.
