Swimming Competes At SCAD Invitational
In a highly competitive field, the Brenau swim team placed tenth at the SCAD Invitational this past week in Savannah, Georgia.
In the relay events, the Golden Tigers posted several solid finishes, led by the tenth place finish in the 4x100 freestyle relay team by Kamryn Carter, Alisha Hodgetts, Lindsay Dowling and Yanne Toussaint (13:39.53).
Other top relay performances include the 4 x 200 freestyle relay of Margaret Norton, Nikoletta Alvanou, Maggie Davis and Ella Kleinschmidt which placed twelfth (8:09.84), the 4 x 50 freestyle relay team of Carter, Maggie Norton, Hodgetts and Toussaint which placed thirteenth overall (1:41.28) and the 4x100 medley relay team of Dowling, Toussaint, Davis and Kleinschmidt which placed 14th overall (4:07.04 ).
Individually, Lindsay Dowling had a strong fifth place finish in the 100 backstroke (59:47), while Ella Kleinschmidt placed tenth in the 1650 freestyle (18:18.30).
Other top individual finishers include:
400 IM: Nikoletta Alvanou, tenth place (4:40.02); Meghan Mistric, sixteenth place (5:00.42);
100 Butterfly: Alisha Hodgetts, fourteenth place (59:55); Kamryn Carter fifteenth place, (1:00.76);
200 Freestyle: Ella Kleinschmidt, fourteenth place (1:57.45);
200 Butterfly: Maggie Davis, thirteenth place (2:14.04);
Wingate University took overall first place honors, while Keiser University, host SCAD Savannah, Emory University and Rollins College rounded out the top five finishers.
Brenau takes a break until next year as the squad will compete on January 5th at the University of West Florida in Pensacola.
