Swimming Tops Converse On Senior Day

On Senior Day, the Brenau swim team rolled past Converse (SC) College in a dual-meet this past weekend in Gainesville.

The Golden Tigers captured first place in nine of thirteen events to outscore the visiting Valkyres 144-92.

In the opening event, the 200 medley relay team of Lindsay Dowling, Yanne Toussaint, Maggie Davis and Ella Kleinschmidt captured first place with a time of 4:09.26.

Kleinschmidt also captured multiple individual first-place honors as the senior won both the 200 freestyle (2:05.34) and the 500 freestyle (5:35.22). Fellow senior Alisha Hodgetts also won the 100 butterfly in 1:01.15.

The squad captured four more individual first-place wins as Yanne Toussaint won both the 100 breaststroke (1:12.53) and the 50 freestyle (25.79), Nikoletta Alvanou captured the 400 IM title (4:51.02) and Lindsay Dowling easily outpaced the competition in the 100 backstroke (1:01.76).

The relay team of Davis, Alvanou, Margaret Norton and Maria Soledad Morell Quiroga also took first place honors in the 400 freestyle relay (4:01.20).

Other standout finishers include:

Lindsay Dowling, second place, 50 freestyle, 27:01;

Sarah Frey, third place, 50 breaststroke, 35:02;

Alisha Hodgetts, second place, 100 freestyle, 57:66;

Devin Horan, second place, 50 backstroke, 31.27;

Emma Jaczko, fifth place, 100 backstroke, 1:15.65;

Meghan Mistric, third place, 100 backstroke, 1:10.92;

Anna Rose, fourth place, 100 freestyle, 1:01.62;

The squad next races against UNC-Asheville on January 20th at home in Gainesville, Ga.
