Swimming Competes Against UNC-Asheville
The Brenau swim team raced against the University of North Carolina-Asheville this past Saturday in Gainesville.
The visiting Bulldogs, members of NCAA Division I athletics, outpaced the Golden Tigers 161-94 in a competitive, non-conference meet.
In the relay events, the 200 medley relay team of Lindsay Dowling, Yanne Toussaint, Maggie Davis and Kamryn Carter placed second in 1:51.23, while the 200 freestyle team of Ella Kleinschmidt, Anna Rose, Alisha Hodgetts and Toussaint also grabbed second place in 1:45.79. The grouping of Maggie Davis, Nikoletta Alvanou, Maggie Norton and Dowling also placed third in int 200 freestyle in 1:49.79.
Kleinschmidt opened the individual events with a third place finish in the 1650 freestyle (18:47.99), while Hodgetts added a fifth place finish in 20:25.49. Hodgetts also earned a second place finish in the 100 butterfly (1:02.13).
In the 200 freestyle, Alvanou notched a fifth place finish (2:08.08) while Carter (2:08.58) and Norton (2:12.10) rounded out sixth and seventh places respectively.
