Swim Wins 2018 Appalachian Athletic Conference Title
The Brenau Golden Tigers swim team used eight first-place finishes over the three-day meet to capture the 2018 Appalachian Athletic Conference Swim Championship in Kingsport, Tennessee this past weekend.
The Golden Tigers collected 701 team points to edge past Asbury College's 663 points for the overall team championship.
Junior Lindsay Dowling capped off the final day of competition with an individual win in the 200 Backstroke in 2:07.02.
The Golden Tigers also earned a pair of second place finishes as Ella Kleinschmidt finished the 1650 Freestyle in 18:09.63 and teammate Maggie Davis went 2:12.22 in the 200 Butterfly.
Other top finishers on the final day of competition include:
Kamryn Carter, fourth place, 100 Freestyle, 54:37;
Alisha Hodgetts, third place, 100 Freestyle, 54:17;
Maria Soledad Morell Quiroga, fourth place, 200 Butterfly, 2:21.64;
Yanne Toussaint, fourth place, 200 Breaststroke, 2:27.75;
Maggie Norton, Ella Kleinschmidt, Sarah Frey and Maria Soledad Morell Quiroga, fifth place, 400 Freestyle Relay, 3:47.26;
Milligan College earned 401 points for third place, while Columbia College (329 points) and West Virginia Tech (326 points) rounded out the top five finishers.
Brenau next looks to compete at the NAIA National Championships from February 28th to March 3rd in Columbus, Georgia. The Golden Tigers placed fourth at the national championships in 2017.
