Swimming Places Eighth at 2018 NAIA Championships
The Brenau swim team tallied a total of 191 points to place eighth overall at the 2018 NAIA Swimming and Diving Championships this past weekend in Columbus, Georgia.
On the final day of competition, Brenau earned two top-five finishes and several other scoring marks to round out a solid championship meet.
Lindsay Dowling continued her strong championships with a fifth place finish in the 200 Backstroke. The junior raced to a time of 2:08.32 to earn her second top-five finish of the weekend after placing second in the 100 Backstroke on Friday.
Ella Kleinschmidt topped off a stellar career with a fifth place finish in the 1650 Freestyle in 17:58.01. The senior also joined teammates Yanne Toussaint, Maria Soledad Morrell Quiroga and Kamryn Carter on the 400 Freestyle relay team which placed tenth overall in 3:37.89. Toussaint then earned an eleventh place finish in the 200 Breaststroke in 2:26.07.
Maggie Davis added the third individual top-ten finish for the Golden Tigers on the day as the Thomasville, Ga. freshman finished seventh in the 200 Butterfly with a time of 2:10.75.
SCAD-Savannah won the national championship with 603.5 points, while Olivet Nazarene (519) earned runner-up honors. The University of Cumberlands (387), Lindsay Wilson College (267) and Keiser University (254) rounded out the top five finishers.
