Converse Edges Past Golden Tigers Swimming
The Brenau swim team came up just short against Converse College by a score of 147.50-145.50 in a highly competitive, two-day meet this past weekend.
The Golden Tigers relay teams had an outstanding weekend of competition with three first-place and one second-place finish. The 200 medley relay team (Lindsay Dowling, Nikoletta Alvanou, Haley Bartoletta and Yanne Toussaint), the 400 medley relay team (Dowling, Ashlyn Steinbach, Alvanou and Toussaint) and the 200 freestyle team (Steinbach, Haley Bernardo, Dowling and Toussaint) each won their respective events, while the 400 freestyle relay team (Steinbach, Bernardo, Dowling and Toussaint) earned a second place nod.
Individually, the Golden Tigers had strong performances throughout the meet as Nikoletta Alvanou, Yanne Toussaint, and Lindsay Dowling combined for seven first place finishes.
Alvanou, a sophomore, took first place honors in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.40), the 200 breaststroke (2:34.12) and the 400 IM (4:48.71) and a second place finish in the 200 butterfly (2:13.87).
Dowling, a senior, earned a pair of first place finishes in the 200 backstroke (2:11.96) and the 100 backstroke (1:02.01) as well as fourth place in the 100 butterfly (1:04.02) and fifth place in the 100 breaststroke (1:20.01).
Toussaint, a junior, earned first place in the 200 yard IM (2:17.69) and the 100 freestyle (55.04), a second place finish in the 200 freestyle (2:03.20) and a third place finish in the 50 yard freestyle (25.73).
