Swimming Competes At Emmanuel College Quad Meet
Franklin Springs, Georgia- The ninth ranked Brenau swim defeated conference opponent Point University (113.00-41.00) and non-conference teams Life College (114.00-23.00) and South Georgia State (131.00-29.00), but fell to host Emmanuel College (116.00-61.00) at a quad meet on Friday and Saturday.
In the relay events, the Golden Tigers captured first and second place finishes as the 200 freestyle relay team of Bailey Ibarra, Ashlyn Steinbach, Lindsay Dowling and Haley Bernardo won the event in a time of 1:45.30. Additionally, 200 medley relay, the team of Dowling, Nikoletta Alvanou, Haley Bartoletta and Yanne Toussaint earned second place with a time of 1:55.47.
Individually, the team consistently placed in the top ten throughout the meet, including first place finishes from Alvanou in the 400 IM (4:45.65), Dowling in the 100 backstroke (1:00.84) and Toussaint in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.82). Alvanou also picked up a first place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.50), while Toussaint added a second place finish in the 50 freestyle (25.73).

Haley Bernardo, ninth place, 50 freestyle, 27.10; fourth place, 100 freestyle, 59.90;

Emma Jaczko, eleventh place, 100 freestyle, 1:08.77;
Meghan Mistric, tenth place, 200 freestyle, 2:11.79; seventh place, 100 freestyle, 1:01.83;
Ashlyn Steinbach, fourth place, 50 freestyle, 26.47;
The squad next looks to defend its title at the Appalachian Athletic Conference championships on February 7-9 in Kingsport, Tennessee. In 2018, the team edged out Asbury College 701-663 to win the conference crown in the team's first year in the new conference.
