Swimming Captures Second Place at 2022 AAC Championships
Kingsport, Tennessee- The Brenau Golden Tigers swim team earned second place at the 2022 Appalachian Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, this past weekend.
Senior Bayley Blackmon captured her third individual title with a win in the 100 freestyle. The senior out touched Milligan's Maggie Blazo by 0.25 seconds to take top honors. Blackmon also captured individual titles in both the 50 freestyle and the 100 yard butterfly.
Senior Haley Bartoletta also wrapped up an outstanding championship with a second place finish in the 200 butterfly in 53.21.
Additionally, the 400 freestyle relay team of Cloe Barthelemy, Callie Edens, Melanie Wicht and Emily Giles earned second place with a time of 3:51.74.

Cloe Barthelemy, fourth place, 100 freestyle, 53.21;
Callie Edens, fourth place, 100 yard backstroke, 1:03.98; fifth place, 200 yard backstroke, 2:22.92;
Vivianne Fuentes, seventh place, 200 yard freestyle, 2:24.66; twelfth place, 100 freestyle, 1:03.98;
Emily Giles, ninth place, 100 yard backstroke, 1:12.41; ninth place, 100 freestyle, 58.76;
Bailey Ibarra, third place, 1650 yard freestyle, 19:13.29; fifth place, 200 yard freestyle, 2:09.84;
Melanie Wicht, seventh place, 100 freestyle, 58.08;
The Golden Tigers amassed 501 total team points at the championships. Milligan (Tenn.) University took top team honors with 794 points, while West Virginia Tech (375 points), Union (Ky.) College (236), and Columbia (SC) College (202) complete the top five. St. Andrews (NC) University (113) and Point (Ga.) University (78) made up the rest of the field.
