Emory Outlasts Brenau in Tennis

Gainesville, Ga- The Brenau tennis team took on NCAA III Emory on Saturday and came up just short in a five hour marathon battle 5-4. The Tigers led the match 2-1 after doubles play after Lyn See Choo/Kate Mazackova defeated McManigle/Dawson 8-1 and Jolene Wong/Liubov Orlova bested Rogers/Wylie 8-3. Eline Nagels/Hannah Thompson lost to Vrabec/Reidenbach 8-2. Emory was able to make up the deficit in singles play by winning four of the six matches to take the win. With the match tied at 4-4 Eline Nagels was locked in a battle with Vrabec in the last match on the court. Eline won the first set 6-2, but could not handle the moonballing tactics of her opponent and eventually went down 6-4 in the final set. The full singles results follows:

Mazackova defeated Dawson 6-4/4/6/6-3
Wylie defeated Wong 6-4/6-1
Riedenbach defeated Thompson 7-6 (8-6)/6-3
Nash defeated Orlova 6-2/6-3
Vrabec defeated Nagels 2-6/7-6 (7-3)/6-4
Next up for Brenau will be their first conference match on Wednesday at 4 pm against Emmanuel.
