Tigers Take Down NCAA II Georgia College
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The NAIA #6 Brenau University women's tennis team won its third-straight match Wednesday, easily defeating #30 NCAA II Georgia College and State University, 7-2. With the win, Brenau moves to 9-5 on the season and continues to lead the SSAC at 3-0.
The Tigers won all three in doubles play, as Lyn See Choo and Kate Mazackova overtook Danna/ Lion in the No. 1 spot. Jolene Wong and Liuba Orlova picked up a hard-fought tiebreaker win over Barksdale/Lingner 9-8 (7-5), and Eline Nagels and Hannah Thompson retired Acuna/Mosa 8-2 at third doubles.
In singles play, Danna downed Lyn See Choo 6-1 and 6-4, Mazackova defeated Barksdale 6-4, 6-3 in the second position, while Lion claimed third singles 7-5 and 6-4 against Jolene Wong.
Slotted fourth, Hannah Thompson took a pair of 6-1 sets from Lingner, and both Liubov Orlova and Eline Nagels won their seventh straight, with Orlova taking care of Mosa 6-0 and 6-1 and Nagels taking Acuna 6-1 and 6-2.
Brenau will play their biggest match of the season on Friday, as they host NAIA #1 AUM at the Brenau courts with the doubles play slated to begin at 2:30 pm.
