Two Top SSAC Teams Tangle at Brenau

Gainesville, Ga- In a match that was closer than the final score indicates, the NAIA #1 AUM tennis team (15-3, 4-0) took over first place in the SSAC by defeating NAIA #6 Brenau (9-6, 3-1) by a score of 8-1 at the Brenau courts. It was a day to honor Jolene Wong (Singapore), the lone senior on the Tigers roster, who has played four years and been recognized as an NAIA Scholar Athlete in each of the years she has played.
The doubles team of Hannah Thompson and Eline Nagels picked up the Tigers lone win at #3 doubles by defeating Appleyard and Tselukhova 8-5. In #1 singles action, Lyn See Choo forced a tie breaker in a close two set loss to Veselonvic as did Nagels against Appleyard at #6. Kate Mazackova took Maloo to three sets before falling as Brenau showed flashes of outstanding play against the three time defending NAIA National Champs.

Next up for the Tigers will be another SSAC match tomorrow (Saturday) at 10 am against Columbia at the Brenau courts.
