Brenau Blanks Hillsborough Community College in Tennis

Orlando, FL - The Golden Tigers started their Spring Break trip in Orlando, FL competing against Hillsborough Community College from Tampa, FL. Hillsborough, currently ranked #8 in JUCO, gave the Tigers a tough battle, but Brenau came out of the match with an impressive 9-0 victory.

All three doubles matches started really close. Nagels/Moniz finished their match first, defeating Ingrilli/O'Brien at the No. 3 spot 8-3. Brenau's No. 1 doubles (Choo/Thompson) won against Johansson/Gruber 8-5, while Orlova/Mazackova defeated Sine/Thomas 8-6.

In singles, Nelli Martirosyan gave Brenau a 4-0 lead, after a 6-0, 6-0 win over Ingrilli at the No. 6 spot. Nelli's match was followed by Eline Nagels who clinched the victory by defeating O'Brien at No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-4.

Hannah Thompson's win at No. 3 singles (6-2, 6-1) against Sine and Lyn See Choo's victory at No. 1 against Paula Gruber (6-0, 6-2) gave Brenau a 7-0 lead. In the last two matches, Liubov Orlova had a long first set but pulled out a victory over Thomas at No. 4 7-5, 6-0. The victory was completed after Kate Mazackova came on top against Sara Johansson at No. 2 singles 6-2, 4-6, 11-9.

Brenau plays their next match in Orlando on Tuesday, February 29th, at 11 am against Wartburg College from Iowa.
