Brenau's Golden Tigers had a more pleasant day to play tennis than they experienced last Saturday against Mercer. The weather wasn't the only thing that was good; the Golden Tigers won their match 9-0 against North Georgia College/State University taking all three doubles matches and all six of the singles contests.
In doubles action, Lyn See Choo and Hannah Thompson, finished their number one match 8 - 0 against Natalia Escobar and teammate Juliana Moscoso. Freshman, Maria Perdomo Medina and junior Eline Nagles had little trouble knocking off Audrex Marlette and Jordan Poole 8 - 2 in the number two doubles. Sophomore Steph Moniz and freshman Theresa Neumeyr had a tough match against the team of Nela Handac and Maria Casseres but prevailed by the score of 9 - 7. Moniz was able to complete the match in spite of a bad ankle that was first injured during the fall season.
Lyn See Choo, Brenau's number one singles player for three consecutive years was the first off the singles court with a 6 - 0, 6 - 2 impressive win over Natalia Escobar. Maria Perdomo Medina overwhelmed Juliana Moscoso with a 6 - 0, 6 - 2 win. Medina played near flawless tennis while keeping her opponent on the base line chasing balls most of the match. Theresa Neumeyr gave Audrex Marlette very little room to maneuver with a 6 -1, 6 - 1 win. Hannah Thompson allowed her opponent, Jordan Poole, little breathing room winning her match 6 - 0, 6 - 1. Eline Nagels bested Nela Handac 6 - 2, 6 - 0 with pounding serves and overheads. Tiffany De Almeida, carried the day in her match against Maria Casseres. She won the closest match of the day by a score of 6 - 3, 7 - 6 (7-4).
Next up for Brenau is a match with Clayton State University in Morrow, GA on Sunday at 2pm. Clayton State is currently ranked #7 nationally in NCAA DII. The Golden Tigers bring an NAIA #6 national ranking into the match.
