Golden Tigers Lose Battle with theTars

The NAIA #6 Brenau University tennis team began their Spring Break with an exciting match against NCAA Div. II #9 ranked Rollins College Tars in Winter Park, FL on Tuesday afternoon. Even after losing all three doubles points, the Golden Tigers split singles matches with the Tars and lost their first match of the season by the score of 6-3.
The Tars quickly swept all three doubles, taking doubles No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 by the scores of 8-5, 8-3 and 8-0 respectively. Even with a 3-0 deficit after doubles, the Golden Tigers imposed a strong rhythm in singles and made the dual match take a different turn.
In singles No. 1, senior Lyn See Choo came back from a set down to defeat #26 Lisa Loft from Rollins 2-6, 6-1, 6-0. Freshman Maria Perdomo-Medina gave Brenau the second point, defeating Stefaniya Tkach 6-1, 6-7 (3), 2-1, default; while Theresa Neumeyr took singles No. 3 over Ashley Rosenberg in two tie-breaks 7-6 (6), 7-6 (5).
While the Tigers took the top three spot, the Tars had strong performances at the bottom of the line up. Senior Hannah Thompson fell to Rollins Mariana Salvador at the No. 4 spot 6-4, 6-1. Eline Nagels lost singles No. 5 against Elissa DeCampli from Rolllins 7-6 (5), 6-1, and Freshman Tiffany de Almeida dropped the No. 6 singles against Sara Stosljevic 6-3, 6-1.
The Golden Tigers will return to the courts tomorrow, Wednesday Feb. 29th in Tampa, FL to play against Hillsborough Community College.
