Golden Tigers Defeat Lady Bobcats

Milledgeville, GA - On Wednesday afternoon, NAIA #7 Brenau University traveled to Milledgeville, GA to compete against NCAA II #30 Georgia College and State University. The Golden Tigers defeated the Lady Bobcats 8-1.

In doubles, Brenau quickly scored two points at doubles No. 2 and No. 3. Stephanie Moniz and Theresa Neumeyr won 8-1 against Marevic/Roberts on court No. 3; while Nagels/Perdomo-Medina defeated Johnson/Pridgeon 8-5 on court No. 2. The third point for the Golden Tigers came at doubles No. 1, where seniors Lyn See Choo and Hannah Thompson overcame a 6-7 score and three match-points before taking down Barksdale/Setyon 9-7.

In singles, freshman Theresa Neumeyr increased the Brenau lead, defeating Ivana Marevic 6-4, 6-1 on court No. 3. Soon after, Hannah Thompson fell to Kay Barksdale 6-1, 6-1, giving GCSU the first and last point of the day. The Golden Tigers scored straight-set victories on courts No. 5 and No. 6 with Eline Nagels and Tiffany de Almeida.

No. 1 and No. 2 singles were the last matches to finish. Freshman Maria Perdomo-Medina lost the first set at No. 2 singles 6-7 with 3-7 in the tie-breaker and bounced back to win the second and third sets 6-3, 10-3. Senior Lyn See Choo also lost the first set and bounced back to score a victory against May Johnson 5-7, 6-3, 10-4.

The victory improves the Brenau record to 10-3 overall (5-0 in the SSAC), while the Bobcats drop to 9-9 overall (4-5 in the Peach Belt Conference). The Golden Tigers will play again on Friday, April 6th at 1:30 pm in Gainesville, GA. Brenau will host AUM, currently ranked #1 in the SSAC and #1 in the NAIA. Both teams are undefeated in the SSAC this season.
