Tigers Tame Lions in SSAC Tennis Action

The NAIA #3 ranked Brenau Golden Tigers tennis team shutout conference foe Emmanuel College 9-0 in a Friday afternoon home match.

Coming off last week's upset win vs. NAIA #1 William Carey University, Coach Andre Ferreira was anxious to see how his team would respond, saying "I was looking forward to this one because we haven't competed in several days". Showing no signs of a letdown, the doubles team of Vladica Djurdjevic (Jagodina, Serbia) and Stephanie Moniz (London, England) continued their domination by sweeping their match 8-0. All three doubles matches were 8-0 shutouts for the Golden Tigers.

In the singles matches, senior Eline Nagels (Antwerp, Belgium) and freshman Kelley Cohron (Buford, Ga.) won quickly to clinch the team's victory. Coach Ferreira spoke on his team's overall effort, saying: "We played a good match today. I was pleased with the performance, especially with our three freshmen (Djurdjevic, Cohron and Sophie van Beijnum) that continue to grow and develop with every match".

Individually, Dominika Jasova (Kosice, Slovokia) moved up to the #3 ranking in the ITA, while Maria Perdomo Medina (Canary Island, Spain) is currently ranked #24. Brenau is now 2-0 in conference play and 9-1 overall.
