Davis and Jasova Earn ITA National Awards
SKILLMAN, NJ (May 13) -- The International Tennis Association (ITA) has announced its 2013 national award winners for NAIA men's and women's tennis. The national award winners are listed below, followed by a brief bio of each winner's accomplishments.
2013 Men's Award Winners:
Wilson/ITA Coach of the Year - Mattias Johansson, Vanguard University
ITA Assistant Coach of the Year - Ernesto Escamilla Jr., Bethel University
ITA Senior Player of the Year - Loic Didavi, Xavier University, Louisiana
ITA Rookie Player of the Year - Stefan Kilchhofer, Vanguard University
ITA Player to Watch - Rafael Bulnes, McPherson College
ITA/Arthur Ashe Jr. Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship - Alex Tarnow, Cornerstone University
2013 Women's Award Winners:
Wilson/ITA Coach of the Year - Alan Green, Xavier University, Louisiana
ITA Assistant Coach of the Year - John Davis, Brenau University
ITA Senior Player of the Year - Dorothy Chong, Lewis-Clark State College
ITA Rookie Player of the Year - Hui-I Huang, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
ITA Player to Watch - Dominika Jasova, Brenau University
ITA/Arthur Ashe Jr. Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship - Ashlan Allison, Olivet Nazarene University
John Davis, the ITA Assistant Coach of the Year, has helped guide the Brenau women's tennis program to great heights during his time as assistant coach. Brenau has been ranked inside the Top 10 of the NAIA Women's National Coaches' Top 25 Poll every season he has been with the team, including an NAIA #1 ranking earlier this year.
Dominika Jasova, the ITA Player to Watch, had an outstanding first year for Brenau by earning a No. 3 national ranking in the ITA NAIA College Tennis Rankings. Jasova owns several wins over ITA ranked opponents from NAIA schools as well as NCAA Divisions II and III. In addition to earning first team All-Southern States Athletic Conference honors, Jasova was also tabbed as the conference Newcomer of the Year.

As the governing body of collegiate tennis, the ITA promotes both the athletic and academic achievements of the collegiate tennis community. The ITA, which is comprised of nearly 1,700 men's and women's varsity coaches representing over 1,200 institutions, administers numerous regional and national championships and the ITA College Tennis Rankings for over 20,000 college varsity student-athletes at the NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA and Junior College levels.
