Brenau Tennis Overwhelms Clayton State
In their first match of the 2014 season, the #6 Brenau University Tennis team put on a strong performance, sweeping Clayton (Ga.) State University 9-0 on Saturday.
The team of Maria Perdomo Medina (Canary Island, Spain) and Stephanie Moniz (London, England) opened doubles play with a resounding 8-1 win over Clayton State's Raluca Pavel and Kristiin Mets.
Dominika Jasova (Kosice, Slovakia) and Zalina Nazarova (Nalchik, Russia) then wrapped up doubles play with an 8-3 win over Zinnia Leamana and Martina Dedaj.
In singles play, the Golden Tigers swept through each match, as #1 Dominika Jasova clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Zinnia Leamana.
"It was a really good start to the season today," said head coach Andre Ferreira. "I was really happy with the way we competed. I think having four experienced returning players made a difference. We will work on a few details this week and are looking forward to hosting North Georgia on Wednesday".
The Golden Tigers will host North Georgia on Wednesday with a match start time of 3 pm.
