Georgia Perimeter Slips By Brenau Tennis
The #5 ranked Brenau tennis team lost a close match to Georgia Perimeter College 5-4 on Tuesday.
In doubles play, the #1 team of Maria Perdomo Medina and Stephanie Moniz lost their match 8-2 to Niriantsa Rasolomalala and Corina Anghelescu 8-2. The #3 team of Snezhana Kiseleva and Valeria Savina also fell by an 8-2 score to Drew Anderson and Eduarda Marins, while the #2 team pulled out one win for the Golden Tigers as Zalina Nazarova and Dominika Jasova defeated Fatyha Berjane and D'Asha Davis 8-3.
After losing their first singles match, the Golden Tigers rallied with two straight wins as #5 Valeria Savina defeated Eduarda Marins 6-0, 6-1 and #4 Stephanie Moniz won over Drew Anderson 6-4, 6-4. However the team was unable to capture the lead as #1 Dominika Jasova and #6 Kelley Cohron both lost their matches.
"Georgia Perimeter is a good, well coached team with experienced players at the top," said head coach Andre Ferreira. "It is definitely top-notch competition to get us ready for SSAC play this weekend. We found ourselves in a hole very early at doubles numbers one an d three which can be costly in these close matches - when the doubles point becomes so critical. I think we had some really good moments in singles and even during the not-so-great moments we fought hard and kept our chances alive".
Brenau opens SSAC play on Friday when they travel to Mobile to face Spring Hill (Ala.) College and the University of Mobile (Ala.).
