Tennis Falls To Georgia Gwinnett
In a battle of elite NAIA teams, the #6 Brenau Golden Tigers tennis team fell to #2 Georgia Gwinnett Grizzlies 7-2 on Friday.
After dropping the #3 doubles match, the Golden Tigers evened the score as the #2 team of Dominika Jasova and Zalina Nazarova won their match 8-1. However the #1 team of Maria Perdomo and Stephanie Moniz could not hold on in their doubles match losing 8-5.
Finding themselves in 3-1 deficit going into singles play, the Golden Tigers fought hard for a comeback. However, Brenau let the first three matches slip to concede the victory. #2 Maria Perdomo won her match 6-4, 6-3 to give Brenau their lone singles victory.
"Georgia Gwinnett has a very deep team and it was really good to play them and see what their team is like," said head coach Andre Ferreira. "We were challenged in ways that we haven't been challenged before, and this experience will hopefully make us tougher.
