Tennis Loses Close Match To Warhawks
In a battle of top SSAC teams, the #7 Brenau Golden Tigers tennis team fell just short of the #3 Auburn University-Montgomery Warhawks in a close 5-4 match.
In doubles play, Brenau dropped the first match, but rallied to win both the #1 and #2 matches to take a 2-1 lead into singles play.
After the Golden Tigers dropped their #5 and #1 matches, Brenau's Maria Perdomo Medina won her #2 match over Paula Diaz 6-3, 6-3 to even the match. #4 Stephanie Moniz came from behind to secure her match 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 to give Brenau a 4-3 lead. After dropping the #5 match, the match came down to the #3 singles match.
Zalina Nazarova won the first set 6-4, but lost the second set 6-4. Going into the final set, Nazarova tried to fight through cramping, but was unable to finish.
