Four Tennis Players Named SSAC All-Conference
Four Brenau University tennis players were honored for their performances as SSAC All-Conference Team selections for the 2014 season.
Seniors Dominika Jasova, Stephanie Moniz and Zalina Nazarova and junior Maria Perdomo were among twelve total student-athletes recognized for their play.
Coach Andre Ferreira says that each one of his players has had a season worthy of All-Conference recognition.
"Dominika (Jasova) is top 10 in singles and doubles player in the NAIA. She has been outstanding throughout the season at #1," said Ferreira. "Maria (Perdomo) was an All-American selection last year and is having her best season this year. She is undefeated against NAIA play in singles, which is an amazing feat".
Ferreira also complimented his other two selections as players that have had to deal with significant injuries to succeed. "Zalina (Nazarova) is a really great story this year as she has fought through injuries to have a great senior year. Due to her injury she is not serving the ball as well as she can, which puts her at a big disadvantage, but she plays well in spite of it and has had a great season both in singles play, but also in doubles play," noted Ferreira. "She and Dominika have been great together as a doubles team and have beaten several top-5 teams together.
"Stephanie (Moniz) didn't play singles for us in the past because of injury, but she has returned healthy to play so well. She holds our together at #4 singles and in doubles play and has beaten some really good top-10 competition".
Brenau tied with conference champion Auburn-Montgomery (Ala.) University with four players each.
