Tennis Advances in National Tournament

In the second round of the 2014 NAIA Women's Tennis Championships, the #6 ranked Brenau tennis team used strong doubles play to defeat #10 Oklahoma Baptist University 5-1.

The #2 team of Maria Perdomo Medina and Stephanie Moniz opened up the match with an 8-2 win over Olivia Charvat and Ashlynn Abbe. The #3 team of Valeria Savina and Kelley Cohron followed up with their own 8-4 win over Alex Morales and Katheryn Sild, while the #1 team of Dominika Jasova and Zalina Nazarova closed out doubles play with an 8-6 win to give the Golden Tigers a 3-0 lead heading into singles play.

#3 Stephanie Moniz opened singles play with a strong 6-0, 6-1 win over Ashlynn Abbe to give Brenau a 4-0 lead. After Kateryna Shkot defeated Maria Perdomo Medina at #2 singles, Zalina Nazarova closed out the match with a 6-1, 6-1 straight set victory over Olivia Charvat.

Brenau will face #3 ranked Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College in the quarterfinals on Thursday at 9 am.
