Berjane and Perdomo Named All-Americans
Brenau tennis players Fatyha Berjane and Maria Perdomo were named as 2015 NAIA All-Americans in a release from the national office on Monday.
Berjane, ranked #13 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), helped lead the Brenau tennis team to an overall 12-5 record. The junior amassed a 10-5 record while playing at #1 singles during her first season as a Golden Tiger. This is Berjane's first NAIA first-team All-American honor.
Perdomo, who was selected as a second team All-American, caps off a career with three consecutive All-American honors. During the 2015 season, the senior posted a 14-3 individual record and was ranked #14 by the ITA. The Canary Island, Spain native was also named a 2015 Daktronics/NAIA Scholar-Athlete for her outstanding academic record. Recipients must maintain a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior status.
"These are great honors for two outstanding players," said head coach Andre Ferreira. "It is amazing how quickly Fatyha has adapted to our team and our school in her first semester. She has had ups and downs in her first season, but she her talent is evident and she will continue to be a strong player next year."
"Maria had an outstanding career at Brenau and as close to perfect senior year as one can have. She is clearly one of the best players in the country. She is a great tennis player, student and even better teammate."
